But besides her incredibly creative mind, Ria has something else going for her. And you notice that immediately when you talk to her. Ria is a sweet, open and genuinely interested person. It is therefore not without reason that she receives ‘very private’ private messages every day. For some, Ria is a sounding board, a woman they can talk to. For some, the only bright spot in their day. And instead of passing it off, Ria starts a conversation with them.

She also told me that she wanted to go to Action herself, but that this was not possible due to her illness.” This affected Ria so much that she called on her fans to make it possible. Until she passed away, this woman was taken to Action every week by her fans and helped. If that isn’t community management…

And Ria mentions many more examples, from men who ask for tips for Valentine’s Day (20% of the fans are men) to finding lost cuddly toys for small children, Ria arranges it. And because of this, her fans are also real fans. In fact, you can say that 32,000 people have secretly fallen a little bit in love with Ria.

The courage of Action

An important question; what does Action itself think about this? “Yes, I do visit the Action head office occasionally, also to tell stories and give workshops. And it’s funny, because when I enter an Action, they ask me if they can take a picture with me and I really feel like a celebrity.” Ria even gets a Christmas package from Action. But she doesn’t have to earn money from it. She does it because she likes it, because she loves it. Because, in her own words, she ‘walks through the Action drooling’ every time the new collection arrives and because it secretly gives her a kick that she manages to reach so many people.

I think Ria is going to become a much bigger celebrity and just needs to practice signing autographs a bit.
