10 Tips I Would Give to a Novice Entrepreneur

Starting to undertake is like falling in love. The first days, weeks and months you see everything very pink. Once you get used to the day to day of pulling the car, you run the risk of losing that initial illusion. Having the right expectations does not protect you from abandoning your project with an idea, but at least you have a clearer idea of ​​what awaits you.

I’m not really one to give advice. I started Northern Mariana Islands B2B List 5 years ago at the point where maybe you are now. I had no idea what I was about to get myself into. Now I have seen something else although I am far from knowing everything about undertaking. Giving only 10 tips is an understatement, but if I had to highlight some of them, they would be the following:

1. Don’t Do It : Because you don’t know what you’re getting into. As Javier Casares says “undertaking is shit” . Living thanks to your own company is not the easiest task in the world. If you are not 100% convinced you will not survive.

2. Your idea is worth nothing, share it : seriously, no one is going to steal it from you. Every time you share it you will receive new ideas and suggestions to improve it. It is very unlikely to find a person who has the same dream and is willing to invest as much energy as you in making it come true.

3. Do not choose the first option : this advice is very generic but it applies to hiring staff, office rental, company name, etc. I have realized that looking back the first option has always been the easiest but never the best.

4. Don’t hire anyone even if you can – At first you have no idea what you’re doing. If you are not clear about the path, it will be very difficult to guide people who depend on you. Hire when you have found the formula that works.

5. Finances Are the Most Important

Forget what I said before if you have no idea about finances. You don’t always have to hire someone right away, but in my experience it’s hard to find decent accounting and financial services in Spain.

6. Things in writing and well documented : we are all friends and good vibes. Most couples who get married also don’t think about problems when they’re still in love. Leaving everything documented avoids future conflicts and possible lawsuits.

7. Viral marketing does not exist : no matter how good your product, website or service is. That’s why it’s not going to start selling itself. Promoting it is not “dirty” but necessary. If you think that you do not need that, you are lost.

8. You won’t get it without support : you need the moral support of your family and your partner. The first can be difficult to achieve but without the second, don’t go for it. Otherwise you have to assume that sooner or later you will go your separate ways.

9. An investor does not invest in a web page : you need a little more “chicha”. You also need users and customers. If you don’t show that your small-scale model already works, it will be very difficult to convince someone to put money into a concept.

10. Wait a bit : It’s not such a bad idea to start working as an employee before launching your own project. At first I thought not, but if you look at the successful entrepreneurs in Spain, many have followed this path and have done well.
